15 people maintaining one weapon system together —
a world-first XR training
Inside a virtual weapon system that works like the real equipment, one instructor and 14 trainees enter the same space at once and maintain a single weapon system together — a technology in real use at an Army training site.
Building skill without
using the real equipment
Costly weapon systems cannot be used often for maintenance practice and carry risk. Since 2014 CRENGINE has developed Virtual Weapon Systems with the same components that operate like the real thing.
- Digital-twin method — every component down to PCBs, wires and cables
- Real-world physical properties; switches, buttons and levers work as on the real equipment
- Instructor and trainees enter together: solo, pair and 3–15 person collaboration
- Own intranet and encryption for military security; extendable to all weapon systems

A world-first technology —
15 people maintain one virtual machine together
It is not one person watching and copying. One instructor and 14 trainees connect to the same virtual maintenance bay at once, split roles, and disassemble, inspect and reassemble one weapon system like a real maintenance team.

In real use at the Army training site
- Operated at the Army Logistics School's special-weapons department — the whole maintenance team on one machine
- Each works from a different position and role on one machine and sees others' work in the same space
- Training capacity grows greatly without dispatching instructors
- Delivered as the Cheonma simulator in a 2023 purchase-conditioned R&D project

Solo self-study
Narration, position points and arrows guide every step so a trainee studies, practices and is assessed alone.

Two-person collaboration
Facing each other and splitting roles, two trainees carry out collaborative work such as heavy-item maintenance in virtual space.

15-person team maintenance
The whole maintenance team connects to one machine and trains with divided roles as at a real site.
Two-person collaboration — facing each other
Each wearer sees the other's avatar in the headset and works on the same equipment together.
15-person collaborative maintenance on site
In one room, 15 people each wear an HMD and maintain one virtual weapon system at once. Click an image to enlarge.
Cheonma air-defense missile
VR maintenance simulator
A 2023 purchase-conditioned R&D project for the ROK Army Logistics School (KRW 700M government + KRW 300M own). Disassemble, inspect and service the KRW 14-billion Cheonma in virtual space — fire-control, navigation and radar sub-systems down to PCBs, wires, cables and switches.
- Meets customer requirements: 2+ simultaneous users, real-equipment operation, solo and team maintenance, instructor evaluation, self-study
- Learning management system — course planning, question authoring, results
- Supports Meta Quest 2/3/Pro, Apple Vision Pro, HTC Vive

K9 self-propelled howitzer
VR operation & firing simulator
Key components are mock-ups; actual operation runs in VR. The feel matches real components at about one-tenth the price of a physical simulator.
- Lightweight mock-up turret and hull from structural analysis
- Mock-up user-operated components for realistic feel
- VR training for K9 User Club countries being pursued

From land to naval, air and guided weapons
Using the K9 and Cheonma technology we aim to lead the domestic and global training-simulator market.
